Bearmind signs partnership with largest ice hockey equipment manufacturer amid strong growth

Bauer Hockey, a leading hockey equipment manufacturer, has partnered with sports tech startup Bearmind to develop the next generation of smart hockey helmets. The collaboration combines Bauer’s expertise in protective equipment with Bearmind’s advanced sensor and analytics platform, building on the startup’s proven track record of delivering technology to ice hockey teams worldwide.
Bearmind has been commercializing its technology for protecting athletes from head injuries while advancing their performance since 2021. The company provides head impact monitoring and analytics platform to help teams and organizations understand and manage head impact exposure, optimize athlete performance, and enhance athlete safety through data-driven insight. In Switzerland, Bearmind supports several members of the Swiss National League including Lausanne HC, and the Swiss League team EHC Basel as well as academies such as the ice hockey academy Geneva (Académie de Genève Future Hockey (AGFH). Further users in France (Magnus League), the United States (USHL), and Canada (Canadian Hockey League) also rely on the platform. Expansion in two new countries is underway.
The newly announced partnership with Bauer Hockey, the leading hockey equipment manufacturers, marks the startup’s first largest deal with a helmet manufacturer and sets the foundation for accelerating the growth and adoption of its technology worldwide.
As part of the deal, Bauer has approved the use of Bearmind’s external sensors on its RE-AKT 155 helmet for use during the upcoming the 2025/26 season. In the next step, Bauer will develop a CSA certified helmet with Bearmind technology integrated inside the helmet for the 2026/27 season.
This partnership comes after extensive testing in Bauer’s state-of-the-art RD&D facility in Blainville, Canada. Bearmind’s head impact monitoring technology was selected for its ability to provide insights into helmet impact dynamics with a level of precision that reinforces Bauer’s commitment to evidence-based innovation. By unlocking athlete-specific data, this partnership will provide Bauer’s RD&D team with a deeper and more complete understanding of how impacts may occur and accumulate on the ice — not in theory, but in measurable reality. These insights will help pave the way for a new era of helmet development with the goal of being more adaptive and more protective than ever before.
Bauer is a key partner in their ice hockey helmet technology integration and provider of exclusive access to their youth and junior leagues. “We’re proud to partner with Bauer to embed our technology into their helmets. Their deep experience and innovative approach make them an ideal partner as Bearmind continues to evolve. Together, we’re making it easier for teams and athletic trainers to adopt new technology without disrupting routines, all with the goal of supporting both athlete performance and health.” Said Mathieu Falbriard, CEO of Bearmind.
Sports tech beyond Ice hockey
Beyond ice hockey, Bearmind has been testing its technology in other sports, including skiing, cycling, and American football, with potential applications in motor racing. Several other research initiatives to support product innovation and medical validation have been supported by Innosuisse grants totaling CHF 1.8 million.
Based in Lausanne with an office in Montreal, Canada, Bearmind has a team of ten employees, including one who serves as the Head of North American Operations.
